The Center for Sorghum Improvement (CSI) will host a virtual seminar by Dr. Joe Louis, Eberhard Professor of Entomology at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, on Tuesday, September 9 at 11:00 AM CT. His talk, titled “Regulation of Sorghum Defenses Against Fall Armyworm,” will highlight ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying sorghum’s resistance to this destructive, polyphagous pest.
The Plant Genomes, Systems Biology & Engineering Meeting will be held December 3–6, 2025 at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Abstract submissions are due by September 12, and regular registration rates are available through November 27 at 5:00 pm ET.

This year’s conference welcomed over 984 scientists and researchers, featured 36 exhibitors, and offered 20 workshops across diverse areas of plant biology. Attendees engaged with 533 poster presentations and explored 727 completed abstracts.
