Programming for Biology, CSHL Oct. 16-31, Applications Due July 15
Simon Prochnik, from Circularis Biotech Inc., and Sofia Robb, from the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, will be teaching the “Programming for Biology” course from October 16-31 at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The class is designed for lab biologists with little or no programming experience. It focuses on teaching students the bioinformatics and scripting skills they need to derive biological insights from large and complex data sets. The course involves a week of instruction in introductory coding, specifically in UNIX and Python (an easy-to-learn scripting language), followed by tackling practical topics in bioinformatics, and concludes with a group coding project.
The application deadline is July 15th. Visit the course website for more information, including information on stipends to offset tuition costs.
