Job Opening – PH.D Student at USDA-ARS Lubbock, TX and Texas Tech University – Sorghum Breeding and Genetics program
Summary:
The sorghum breeding and genetics program at the Institute for Genomics of Crop Abiotic Stress Tolerance (IGCAST) at Texas Tech University is looking for a Ph.D Research Assistant to work collaboratively with Dr. Chad Hayes at the USDA-ARS in Lubbock, Texas, and Dr. Yinping Jiao at the IGCAST at Texas Tech University. The research will take place primarily in Lubbock and will focus on crop drought tolerance and breeding. The candidate will be trained in field-based sorghum breeding, high-throughput phenotyping, study of the genetic foundations of sorghum traits and novel sorghum trait discovery.
Job Requirements:
- Strong foundational knowledge in genetics.
- A master’s degree in a related field is preferred, though not mandatory.
- Demonstrated dedication, hardworking nature, and excellent teamwork skills.
